The cosmetic industry has shaped expectations around products being completely uniform: identical texture, strong fragrance and a very long shelf life. This is usually achieved through stabilisers, synthetic chemicals, alcohols and petrochemical derived emollients.

Natural skincare behaves differently. Because it isn’t standardised, small variations in colour, texture or consistency are completely normal. Without stabilisers, products made with oils, butters and waxes can soften in warm temperatures. As they warm, the natural molecules can rejoin, sometimes creating a light, grainy texture. This doesn’t affect the quality or performance of the product, and any tiny grains melt instantly on contact with the skin.

Beeswax, plant oils and butters naturally become softer in heat and firmer in cooler temperatures. This is simply the nature of pure, unrefined ingredients.
